A bit of knitting and sewing....

Welcome!  If you have followed me over from my blog on Blogger, thank you!  I think this switch will simplify my life a bit, and that will be a very good thing.

In the fall our first granddaughter arrived, so a hand knit sweater was a must.  The pattern is the One Skein Hooded Baby Sweater by McCalls, very similar to the Quickie Baby Sweater pattern.  Yarn is Knit Picks CotLin DK in swan, two strands worked together.

Then, when I saw many adorable bibs pictured online, I decided to make one for her as well.  Some leftover linen and a bit of trim I modified, along with some braided cord and this is what I came up with:

Are you doing any knitting this winter?  Would love to hear what you are working on!

This will be nice to look forward to!
I'm just starting on a small quilt for a new baby niece coming any day now! We don't have many girls in the family, so this will be fun for me.

Congratulations on the new grandbaby! I love that little sweater and bib, so sweet. I started a temperature blanket, made with my wild array of handspun yarns, and I just took 4 new dish towels off the little loom. Finishing will take a bit, then I’ll warp for the next run of towels. I enjoyed reading your blog post. Best to you!

Judy, thanks so much for stopping by! Love hearing about your projects--sometime when you have a chance, maybe you can let me know what a temperature blanket is, I don't think I ever heard of it.
Take care.

Hi,
I followed you over from your old blog and quite honestly - I only follow 2 blogs regularly and have for quite some time. I used to blog, but gave that up some years back and now it's just all about retirement life for the past 2 years. I don't knit, but your knitting is lovely. I do crochet a little, but haven't picked that back up yet. I have to really be in the mood for crafting - when it hits me, I do it, and then I go a great long time without it. Congratulations on your new granddaughter! :) I'm 56 (retired at 54) and hubby is 64 but we don't have any grandchildren yet. Only one of our daughters is married and it hasn't been in the cards as of yet.
Glad to continue reading your blog here. I always enjoy your lovely photos.

Hi Linda,
Thank you for your kind words! I appreciate that you have followed for a long time. I agree with you about crafting, I have to be in the mood otherwise it seems a chore. Maybe why I have so many unfinished projects, lol.

Your new "home" is just beautiful. We have a new great-grandbaby (I know! I must be getting old!) arriving in June. I love that sweet little sweater. I may try to find the pattern. Thanks so much.

Debbie,
I never saw the blog entry that you were moving and am glad to find you here! I got my life uncomplicated when our first grandchild was born! and haven't looked back. Congratulations on grandbaby!
I just happened to look you up when I was hankering for some views of the current house...and there was the note that you were moving. Congrats on simplifying life! Love the sweater, very cool transforming that trim, anything linen is gorgeous and now start a sweater for when baby is 4 LOL ...they grow quickly!
How did you get the sweater pattern? Reverse searching? 😜

Good Morning Debbie from a chilly Maryland. I am a quilter but also knit, crochet and do embroidery. Found your blog after searching for a pattern for a knitted wash cloth. Busy knitting a waffle pattern cloth using a 85%/15% polyester blend. Keen to see how well it holds up after washing.
